Hello, my friend!

I’m Jemma, Founder of Love This Food Thing and a big welcome to our 1:1 recovery mentorship page.

I suffered with eating disorders for over 20 years, and I know what it takes to get well. My approach to recovery is constantly evolving…

EATING DISORDERS MEAN MANY DIFFERENT THINGS TO MANY DIFFERENT PEOPLE.

EVERYONE HAS THE POTENTIAL TO RECOVER, EVEN YOU.

Are you struggling with an eating disorder?

Stuck in the same old behaviour patterns?

Nearly there but can’t let go?

I suffered with eating disorders for over 20 years, I know what it takes to get well.  My approach to recovery is constantly evolving.

Letting go of eating disorders feels scary.

Who will we be without them?

How will we cope?

Will we miss them?

Sometimes it can feel impossible to leave the eating disorder zone; we feel powerless, as if something  stronger has taken over us and we have no choice other than to go with it.

But our desire to recover and be free sees us through the challenging times.

"Jemma and Love This Food Thing has been the most incredible find for me as someone who has had a complex relationship with food for over 20 years. Jemma looks beyond the eating disorder labels that are attached to people through diagnosis and instead explores the person and the very individual life journey they have experienced and how it contributes to their relationship with food and themselves". - Prue

EATING DISORDERS CAN BE POWERFUL
TOOLS FOR HEALING.

Whoa! What are you talking about, eating disorders are a nightmare. I agree, they are.

But the recovery process is where we really get to know ourselves because most eating disorders (with the exception of *ARFID) are to do with how we feel and our place in this world.

Food, by definition, is life; we have to eat to survive, and we live in our bodies.

When we interfere with these relationships we are fundamentally challenging our existence.

This challenge comes in the form of two questions.

Who am I?

And what am I doing here?

The two most important questions anyone can ever ask.

Recovery, from an eating disorder, is about discovery.

As Socrates, allegedly said, “the unexamined life isn’t worth living.” (we didn’t come here to pay the mortgage and eat 3 meals and 2 snacks a day)

Life is a journey of emotion.

*Avoidant Restrictive Food Disorder may present in people who present with levels of autism and ADHD and is to do with the texture of food, fear of food or lack of interest in food.
